Become a part of the creativity at Desert Dragon Pottery in North Phoenix

Positively Arizona

PHOENIX – Desert Dragon Pottery Owner, Mishy Katz has shaped artistic designs for more than 40 years. From making handprints on the wall to a muddy masterpiece, students of all ages can pick up a new hobby.

We teach them the pottery wheel, we teach them the sculpture, we teach how to glaze and finish those pieces or paint them if they choose how to do other things.”

During her time as an artist, she was apart of an organization that created two pieces that were presented to the Make a Wish Foundation for their 25th anniversary. According to her, that was the greatest art sculpture in her career.

“I was part of creating the design that they wanted, and they gifted it to Disney. Pretty neat to be apart of it, and one of the Make A Wish kids painted it”, said Katz.

Katz believes that ages five and up will have a better understanding of how to use the pottery wheel.

“When they say they’re not creative, I say it’s too late you walked through the door”, Katz added.

Once Michelle found art at Arizona State in 1979, the joy was like no other.

“You come into work and you’ve in the worst mood, then all of a sudden all those troubles are gone because you’re somewhere else.”
