Kids in Focus, a Valley nonprofit organization, uses photography to give a home to at-risk youth.
For those involved with Kids in Focus, a photo is more than a thousand words. A Valley photographer was inspired to use her gift to mentor the youth, and Kids in Focus was born. Karen Shell’s mission brings professional photographers to help her serve as mentors. The nonprofit takes kids aged 10-14 and pairs them with a professional for two and half months. At the end of each cycle, there’s a big reveal. Just last week, the portrait’s were revealed at Create at the Arizona Science Center. The pictures will be in the atrium for the next two months. You can also catch the artwork in Terminals 3 and 4 through September.
