The Susan G. Komen Arizona chapter is shutting down.

The Arizona chapter of Susan G. Komen is closing their doors after 20 years of outreach. The board of directors for the chapter decided to shut down the chapter after a steady decrease in funding and event participation. A spokesperson for the foundation says the annual Race for the Cure Walk is also canceled with no plans for the walk as of now. The announcement was made in a letter titled ‘Thank You Arizona.’ They have also canceled the 2017 Phoenix Race for the Cure, which was scheduled for October of this year. The chapter will officially close on July 31. Susan G. Komen is a non-profit that aims to cure and prevent breast cancer through education and research.

In the two decades of time spent in Arizona, the Susan G. Komen chapter says it more than $26 million for Arizona breast cancer programs and services.
