Filming for the CW’s Riverdale spin-off Katy Keene has started and the cast has been revealed.
Lucy Hale takes on the leading role of Katy Keene, and shared the exciting news on her Instagram.
According to the CW’s president, Mark Pedowitz,
“Katy Keene takes place years after Riverdale High School.”
Ashleigh Murray, who plays Josie on Riverdale, will get to bring her character to the show, just an older version. There is not a planned cross-over, but if it does happen, Pedowitz said the characters will be older.
Other cast members include American Vandal star Camille Hyde as Alexandra Cabot, Scream Queens actor Lucien Laviscount as Alexander Cabot, From Dusk Till Dawn actor Zane Holtz as Ko Kelly, and Dynasty actress Katherine LaNasa as Gloria Grandbilt.
Laviscount also shared the news on his Instagram.
Set in New York City, Katy Keene is based off the Archie Comics character of the same name.
“This musical dramedy chronicles the origins and struggles of four aspiring artists trying to make it on Broadway, on the runway and in the recording studio,” according to Variety.
The pilot for the show is set to air on The CW sometime between Fall 2019 and Summer 2020.
