Salt & Straw, a notoriously experimental Portland ice cream shop, is taking it’s inventive reputation and running with it. The shop is bringing back multiple Thanksgiving-themed ice cream flavors this month, with the flavors set to be up for sale until Nov. 21.
The new “Roasted Peach & Sage Cornbread Stuffing” and “Roasted Cranberry Sauce Sorbet” flavors are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the bold (or disgusting) flavor combinations.
Turkey is the staple item for most American Thanksgiving dinners so why not just finish it up with some turkey-flavored ice cream? “Salted Caramel Thanksgiving Turkey” is yet another flavor that Salt & Straw is rolling out in preparation for Thanksgiving Day.
The last two exclusive flavors ready for the shop’s hungry customers are “Sweet Potato Casserole with Maple Pecans” and “Spiced Goat Cheese & Pumpkin Pie.”
The flavors are coming back after Salt & Straw’s San Francisco satellite locations partnered with local elementary school students nearly a year ago to conjure up some notably outlandish flavors. The kids came up with colorful treats that had a seriously wide range of flavors from nacho cheese to lavender sherbet with edible green glitter.
Although these flavors aren’t for sale, the five Thanksgiving stunners will be up for grabs at most Salt & Straw California, Oregon and Washington locations.
For those who can’t stop by in person, the limited edition ice cream flavors are also for sale on Salt & Straw’s website. After Nov. 21, the flavors will disappear, but they will likely return next fall.
