PHOENIX – Facebook has announced a new market research app called Study from Facebook. Using this app they will gain data from users on what other apps they use and how they use them to improve their own products.

The study will be conducted by receiving volunteers through the adds Facebook creates, and yes, you will be paid to participate.

According to Facebook Newsroom, this is what they will be analyzing:

  • The apps installed on a participant’s phone
  • The amount of time spent using those apps
  • Participant’s country, device and network type
  • App activity names, which may show us the names of app features participants are using

Facebook also promises they are not collecting any other information such as passwords or photos, and they will not sell any information to third parties.

All participants will be asked if they want to volunteer and are informed of all the information they will be sharing. All they have to do while participating is download the app and use their phone just as they always do. Any volunteer can leave the study at any time.
