The Halloween season isn’t off to a great start for the costume designers behind Disney’s new movie Moana. They released their 2016 Halloween costumes and Maui, the lead male character did not get the response they were hoping for. The costume is a full body skin suit that features Maui’s signature tattoos, grass skirt, and necklace. Concerns began to circulate that wearing another’s skin is offensive. People voiced their concerns about the costume on social media, which led Disney to remove the costume from stores. Disney apologized for the costume in a statement Thursday.
