La Dia de los Muertos Festival returns to Phoenix for the sixth year in a row, even though fundraising efforts fell $1,200 short.
The $1,200 is needed for a sound system at the event. Last year, the event drew in an attendance of 6,000 people. La Dia de los Muertos or the Day of the Dead is traditionally celebrated Nov. 1. The day is a celebration of life to honor deceased loved ones. If funds are not raised in time, the festival will continue as scheduled Sunday Oct. 29 from noon to 6 p.m. but with a lesser sound system at Steele Indian School Park.
