CW’s shows will no longer be streamed on Netflix

The CW has ended their deal to stream their shows including Riverdale, the Flash, and more, on Netflix. This news came directly after the CW Upfronts that took place in New York City, highlighting the upcoming fall lineup including new shows – Batwoman, Katy Keene, and Nancy Drew.

“We have a very strong brand, and it is really up to our studio partners to decide where the past seasons of our programming goes. It’s important to note that the CW is a vital part of their ecosystem. We end up as a platform making these shows popular and they have increased value across the multi-platform system,” said CW President, Mark Pedowitz.

This plan follows in the path of Disney who have been working on creating their own streaming service, Disney+ after also gaining control of Hulu from Comcast. The CW has been working on its own streaming service called CW Seed in addition to the CW App. With taking off the new content, viewers will either have to watch on TV, tape it, or stream on the CW Seed or app.

The shows however won’t immediately disappear – the current shows that are streaming will remain on there, but new shows and seasons won’t be added.
