A 69-year-old Dutch man is igniting a legal fight to lower his age by twenty years. Emile Ratelband, a motivational speaker, is basing much of his legal argument on the fact that he has been coming up short on Tinder matches lately. Ratelband even compared his struggle to that of a transgender person.

Shortly after leaving court, Ratelband described his situation as something that is really a question of “free will.”

“[If I’m 49] I can take up more work. When I’m on Tinder and it says I’m 69, I don’t get an answer. When I’m 49, with the face I have, I will be in a luxurious position,” he said. “When I’m 69, I am limited. If I’m 49, then I can buy a new house, drive a different car.”

Apparently, Ratelband forgot that he can lie about his age on Tinder.

In Dutch court files, Ratelband explained that he feels uncomfortable with his birthday. Ratelband then went on to boast about how his doctors praise him for having the body of a 45-year-old man. He even identified himself as a “young god.”

Ratelband is requesting to have his birth date altered from March 11, 1949 to March 11, 1969.

The judge presiding over the case pushed back against Ratelband and his legal team, “For whom did your parents care? Who was that little boy then?”

Ratelband, hoping for a legal win, said that he was ready to give up his pension and any possible retirement benefits in order to ensure that an age adjustment would not offer him any unfair advantages.

For some reference as to what this “young god” looks like, here is a clip of Ratelband on a European television show nearly six years ago diving half-naked into a swimming pool.

Ratelband’s legal fight is just beginning, so it is still unknown as to whether or not he will ever succeed om his struggle to become recognized as a 49-year-old.
