PHOENIX – Couples have been getting very inventive with proposals. From flash mobs to jumbo screens, people have found new ways to show they love their S.O.

But how should a firefighter recruit ask his girlfriend to marry him? With fire of course.

On family night at the Phoenix Fire Academy, Nick Story asked Adria Vigna to marry him. He didn’t just get down on one knee and pop the question though. He wanted something with a bit more spark.

Family night is to symbolize the trainees becoming firefighters. Their old shirts are burned and then they are given their new firefighter uniform. To put out the fire, Stoy had Vigna come down.

She reportedly took the hose and began to put out the fire before her long-time boyfriend came out and got down on one knee. She said yes.

Story then provided a photo of the couple standing in front of a fence with “Marry me?” written in fire.

Everyone is melting over this sweet story.
