PHOENIX – Its been over 30 years since the first Top Gun was released which sky rocketed Tom Cruise into one of his first, breakout roles. Now, the long awaited sequel is here, and die-hard fans are freaking out.
The trailer for Top Gun: Maverick gives fans a glimpse into Pete Mitchell’s (Maverick) life 34 years after the first film ended. When Cruise debuted the trailer at San Diego Comic-Con, saying the film was a “love letter to avaiation,” he wasn’t lying.
The trailer is filled with aerial shots of fighter-jets flying through the air, naval bases, Cruise riding a motorcycle off into the sunset in his iconic aviators, and of course narration explaining what Maverick’s been up to in the last 30 years.
It’s basically a love-letter to all the fans of the original – a promise to live up to the hype. The film is set to release in the summer of 2020 and according to the trailer, it’s adding more diversity to the cast, this time around.
The all-star cast includes, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Glen Powell and Val Kilmer will be reprising his role as ‘Iceman.’
Apparently little to no CGI was used in the making of MAVERICK (yikes). Are you ready to see Tom Cruise do his own stunts as a 57-year-old?! I know I am.
