PHOENIX –Barbie might just become the next must-see quirky dramatic film as its fate lies in the trusted hands of Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach.
With past projects like Gerwig’s Lady Bird and Baumbach’s The Squid and the Whale, it will be interesting to see what the duo will produce when filming a story about America’s favorite fashion doll.
Although the Barbie movie began its early stages in 2015, the project has underwent many changes ranging from casting complications to a switch from Sony production company to Warner Bros.
Barbie’s character was first expected to be played by Amy Schumer but was later granted to Anne Hathaway after Schumer was experiencing scheduling conflicts.
The lead role was finally granted to Margot Robbie who is known for her impressive parts in Suicide Squad, The Wolf of Wall Street and I, Tonya.
It’s safe to say that the Warner Bros. doll film will be cinematic, thoughtful and sprinkled with humor due to Gerwig and Baumbach’s past film styles.
We can expect to see a plastic-yet-fantastic indie comedic drama in 2020.
