PHOENIX – Did you know that YouTube makes the bulk of their profits from music?

Let’s give you an idea of how many views they get!

– Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off reached 2.74 billion views

– Katy Perry’s Roar hit 2.75 billion

– Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth’s See You Again hit 4.13 billion

– Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You reached 4.2 billion views!

The music-related category has managed to rack up so many views that it represents 20% of all views on the video-sharing website according to Pex who conducted this study.

So, why is the music category such a popular place on YouTube?  Some use YouTube as their source of music rather than paying for a subscription with Spotify or Apple Music, and others simply enjoy watching visuals while their music idol lip syncs to the tune.
