Netflix adds “Netflix and Chills” category with new movies and shows for Halloween

PHOENIX – In honor of everyone’s excitement for the fall season, Netflix has created a new category called “Netflix and Chills” which will feature classic scary movies as well as new original movies and shows.

The announcement came on Friday, September 13 (how appropriate) and shared the release days for some of their new thrilling projects.

Forget tricks or treats, Halloween is about the shrieks. These scary movies, including some for the kids, have all you need for a spooky time.

In the Tall Grass (Oct. 4) – After hearing a boy’s cry for help, a pregnant woman and her brother wade into a vast field of grass, only to discover there may be no way out.

Creeped Out season 2 (Oct. 4) – A masked figure known as “The Curious” collects tales of dark magic, otherworldly encounters and twisted technology in this kids anthology series.

Prank Encounters (Oct. 25) – Monstrous frights meet funny reveals as real people land in their own horror movie. Gaten Matarazzo (Stranger Things) hosts the hidden-camera show.

Already on the list are television shows such as Bates Motel, American Horror Story, Stranger Things, and Death Note. Classics such as Scream and The Conjuring are balanced out with comedies like Scary Movie 2 and Gremlins. And if you need a break from reality, you can enter an animated world in Coraline.

So grab a blanket, dim the lights and get ready because Netflix has hours of horror available at the touch of a button.
