PHOENIX – Your favorite rom-com of the early 2000’s is officially getting a reboot. Guy Branum, a comedian and writer will rework the script into a modern day love story because duh, rom-coms aren’t dead.

The TV reboot is currently in development with Quibi, a mobile-based streaming platform launching in April 2020. For those unfamiliar with the new mobile streaming service in the works, creators of the startup explain their concept via L.A. Times,

“What we say internally is we’d like to be the quality of HBO and offer customers the convenience of Spotify.”

Meg Whitman, tech executive and CEO of Quibi

The startup already has massive ties in the Hollywood-sphere, partnering with huge names like Steven Spielberg, Olivia Wilde and Kevin Hart to name a few. All of the content produced for Quibi will be directly available for subscription users via mobile phone.

Although it seems the beloved classic will be in good hands, not much detail has been released on how the film will be re-imagined and fans are definitely having mixed feelings about it.

The original 2003 version focuses on Andie (Hudson), an advice columnist and Ben (McConaughey), an advertising exec both going through crazy loops in the game of love and war – ultimately leading to them falling for each other in classic Rom-Com fashion.

Branum (Chelsea Lately) promises to honor this Rom-Com legend but, only time will tell to see how it all plays out. Until then, I’ll be re-watching the original for the 100th time – sorry, not sorry.
