She will bring honor to us all

PHOENIX — Long time Disney fans get ready because the official trailer for Disney’s newest remake, Mulan has arrived – and it’s better than we thought.

The anticipated adaption of the 1998 classic has fans eager to see Chinese actress Liu Yifei, also known as Crystal Liu, become the beloved heroine in real life and the trailer does not disappoint.

The teaser trailer premiered during the World Cup final game, giving fans a chance to dissect each scene. In a surprising twist, Disney is actually changing a few of the ‘core’ characters from the original. Expect not to see ‘Mushu’ and ‘Li Shang’ in the 2020 remake.

But before you make any rash decisions, the live-action version added a new love interest for Mulan. Yoson An will play Chen Honghui and you can even catch a peak of him in the trailer, if you look closely enough. The film is set to release on March 27, 2020.

The new Mulan is directed by Niki Caro and by the looks of the trailer, there is no musical cameos throughout the film. For fans of the original, the news may come as a shock, but the story of Mulan is unchanged. She’s still the same warrior princess we saw growing up, trying to bring honor to her family.

Other big names in the film are Jet Li as the Emperor, Donnie Yen as Commander Tung and Gong Li as Xian Lang. Chances are if you loved the original, the 2020 remake will be on your radar for the next coming months. Meanwhile, check out this trailer that plays the original and remake side-by-side for comparison!
