Grandparents Still Don't Use the Internet

Elderly People Are Still Not Surfing the Web

One-third of senior citizens in the United States don’t use the internet.

A new survey from the Pew Research Center found that one out of three adults over 65 years old don’t use the internet. However, 42 percent say they own smartphones, that’s up compared to 18 percent in 2013. But, nearly half of seniors don’t have broadband internet at home. It turns out, income plays a role. Eighty-seven percent of seniors who earn more than $75,000 a year said they have broadband at home. At the same time, a mere 27 percent of seniors with income below $30,000 say they have broadband at home.
