Your Guide to the Critics' Choice Awards 2018

PHOENIX - Celebrating some of the best visions to grace both big and small screens alike, the 23rd annual Critics’ Choice Awards will take place on Thursday, Jan. 11, from 7-9 p.m. Actress and activist Olivia Munn will host the award show. Munn is known for her work in movies like Hummingbird, The Predator and X-Men: Apocalypse.

This year, the ceremony will be broadcast on The CW. They’ve also partnered with the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) to present the #SeeHer Award to a woman that is the embodiment of the values the movement is made of. This year’s recipient is Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, who has used and continues to use her platform help push for equality in entertainment industry. Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins will present the award to Gadot.

Leading the charts for the film category with 14 nominations is The Shape of Water. The film has been nominated for awards as big as Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, as well as others such as Best Hair and Makeup and Best Costume Design.

Netflix, this year’s leading entertainment company in television, has been nominated for 20 awards and holds a five nomination lead over runner-up, HBO. Some Netflix nominations include, Stranger Things for Best Drama Series, GLOW for Best Comedy Series, and Godless for Best Limited Series.
