UPS has announced that it will be implementing Peak Surcharges for the first time during the 2017 holiday season. Starting November 19, the week of Thanksgiving, ground shipments will cost 27 cents more. Then from December 17-23, the price for Next Day Air will be 81 cents while 2-day air and 3-day select service will reach 97 cents. UPS claims that this surcharge will help to ensure the best quality service to its customers as well as cover the additional expense that can happen during the high-volume season when their demand nearly doubles.
