PHOENIX -

WHAT THE?
PCH expansion will help accommodate more pediatric patients.

THE DOWNLOAD
New and exciting changes are happening at Phoenix Children's Hospital. On Wednesday, September 20, the innovative pediatric hospital will open a new top-of-the-line 42,000 square-foot emergency department, along with a Level 1 pediatric trauma center. When it comes to levels of Trauma Centers, a level one is as good as it gets.  The American Trauma Society defines a Level 1 Trauma Center as being "capable of providing total care for every aspect of injury prevention to rehabilitation."  The expansion will triple its current capacity from 23 to 75 private exam rooms. This will also enable medical personnel to transport patients from the helipad to a trauma bay in less time, which PCH says will now take under two minutes.

WAIT...THERE'S MORE
The new facility is possible due to generous community donations totaling $40 million. This includes Valley Toyota Dealers Association, The Kemper and Ethel Marley Foundation, and Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust.
