Kevin Shoemaker and Skylar Bennett have been wearing ties their entire life, but haven't had much luck. Both belong to The Church of Latter Day Saints, and while on their missions, Bennett and Shoemaker had bad luck with neckties. Often times, they were ruined by the hot and humid temperatures in Brazil for Kevin, or the same for Skylar in St. Louis, Mo. Things only got worse when the two had children. "You go pick up your daughter and she’d pull, crinkle and wrinkle and it just got gross," said Shoemaker. Bennett didn't have much luck either. "My sons just like pulling on my tie and trying to like eat it. Just demolishing this thing," said Bennett. That's when the light bulb turned on. An idea to create a life-proof tie for the everyday guy. It was not soon after that The Tough Tie was born "out of necessity," said Shoemaker. Made from polyester, The Tough Tie features an "iron-lock" double stitching keeping the tie together and a microfiber cloth tip for wiping off glasses or phone screens. The ties are machine washable, can easily be ironed, and all designs are custom-made. The Tough Tie is even launching a liquid-repellent line. Even more impressive, The Tough Tie's patent-pending design has been Tough Mudder tested. The Tough Mudder is perhaps the muddiest obstacle course in Arizona. With a group of guys, The Tough Tie was dragged through miles of muddy obstacles, coming out clean enough to wear.

I put The Tough Tie to the test with my own sauce brought from home. See how it measures up in the video above.

WAIT ... THERE'S MORE
The Tough Tie is available online, with their liquid repellent line soon coming out soon.
