Make it a Duet

Local Nonprofit Making a Difference

Duet volunteers are making a big difference.

Founded in 1981 by Church of Beatitudes in Glendale, Ariz., Duet is a nonprofit, interfaith organization working to enhance to lives of Valley residents. Duet offers a variety of services including volunteer services for senior citizens, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, a caregiver support program, and a faith community nurse program. When it comes to helping older adults, volunteers feel a void by helping get those they help to their doctor's appointments, doing their grocery shopping, balancing their checkbooks, and so much more. The program is so successful, that there is now a waitlist of 95 adults who need help. Duet is in dire need of volunteers. You do not have to be religious, but most be over 18-year-old, have an active fingerprint clearance card, and have the heart to give. The program is flexible with schedules. The Duet website also has a Services map, which maps the services older adults need help with like friendly visits and computer assistance.

If you are interested in becoming a Duet volunteer, you are encouraged to reach out to the organization directly. You can also learn more at their volunteer orientation Saturday, September 16 at Orangewood Presbyterian Church from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
