Dwayne Johnson Accepts the Razzie for 'Baywatch'

The Movie Inspired Its Own Category

PHOENIX -

Anyone can accept an award honoring a movie for what it did right, but it takes a good sport to accept an award for what your movie did wrong.

And Dwayne Johnson was definitely a good sport when Baywatch, a movie he starred in, inspired its own category at the 2018 Razzies.

The category “So Rotten You Loved it” was awarded to Baywatch, bringing a visual embodiment of the phrase “It’s so bad it’s good.”

After the dishonors were distributed on Saturday, Johnson wasted no time on thanking those who made the award possible.

“It’s Oscar Sunday, I’m super pumped and very proud of my buddies who are nominated. I’m pulling for you guys to bring home the gold. I’m also excited because I was just informed that I too am bringing home the gold tonight, no not an Oscar, but maybe one day, but a Razzie.”

He admits he did not take on the role with the intention of earning a Razzie, but even though that’s the way it turned out, he’s still grateful.
