Chase Field in Top 5 for Food Safety Violations

More than Half are 'Critical Violations'

PHOENIX -
WHAT THE?
Chase Field made Sports Illustrated’s top five for Ballpark Food Safety Rankings, but that won’t put your stomach at ease.

THE DOWNLOAD
Chase Field may not be celebrating this ranking. Sports Illustrated looked at public inspection records for ballparks across the country for their 2017 MLB Ballpark Food Safety Rankings. The home of the Diamondbacks came in at number five for least amount of violations. However, being top 5 still isn’t the best news. Chase Field received 44 violations, 23 of those being critical. Critical violations have to do with the spread of foodborne illness. However, that wasn’t Chase Field’s biggest problem. Many of the violations dealt with employee hygiene. Seven of the 44 violations came from Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles. I think I’ll eat before the game next time.

WAIT … THERE’S MORE
Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Rays, came in as the worst ballpark for food safety rankings. They received 241 violations, 105 of them being critical. Maybe stick with the crackerjacks instead of the hot dogs at Tropicana Field.
